Las Illetas
Las Illetas is a set of anchorages situated to the west bay of Port Calanova. Although not exactly a part of the harbor, you can anchor here if you don’t find any berths in the port or enjoy more privacy and a less crowded area. It’s a resort town and is usually crowded during holiday seasons i.e., during the summer months and between October and December.
Travelers chose to park here as it’s surrounded by the Bendinat holiday development. You can find beautiful holiday rentals surrounded by lush greenery, making it, Magaluf, and Puerto Portals three of the most attractive tourist stay destinations in south Mallorca. Anchoring and staying here guarantees a calm beach holiday.
The area of Ses Illetes is hugely popular for its golden sandy beach and turquoise water. An evening excursion on the beach is a popular pastime for many in this area. Other popular beaches worth visiting are Playa de Illetes (the largest in West Mallorca) and Cala Xinxell.
Mooring at Las Illetas
Enter slow with caution as only the anchorage area is permitted for travelers. Islote de s’Estenedor is a military area, with its adjoining beach earmarked for fish farming. Steer clear of those and stick to your parking area. There are no berths or quays here but you can choose any vacant area around the anchorages.
Anchoring recommendation is 2-6 meters on sandy weed. Holding is not great with some rocks around the low peninsula. The west anchorage is the best as it provides good protection from swell and has direct access to a private holiday home.
Road transport from Las Illetas is possible by bus or cab. There are frequent bus services to and from Palma town. You may also hire rental cars if you plan to stay longer or visit the sights such as the Serra de Tramuntana mountains.
Provisioning and Services
Basic provisioning is available near the shore. However, due to a lack of quays and proper management, you may need to go in towards Cala Nova or Bendinat for shopping, eateries, and sightseeing.
You can easily find decent accommodations near the shore at Las Illetas. It has an animated nightlife too, which justifies the attraction of young couples and groups of friends.
