A Balearic Islands yacht charter offers the perfect balance of world-class marinas, stunning beaches, and vibrant nightlife. Picture yourself at exclusive beach clubs in Ibiza, swimming in the crystal-clear waters of Formentera, or anchoring near Es Trenc, Mallorca’s own slice of the Caribbean. For those looking for something more remote, Cabrera Island offers untouched natural beauty and incredible snorkeling.

To truly experience the best of the Balearics, we recommend an 8-day itinerary starting in Mallorca and cruising to Ibiza and Formentera. If you have more time, extending your charter to 10 or 14 days allows you to explore Mallorca’s north coast and Menorca, adding even more variety to your journey.

Route Overview

Best Yacht Type for a Balearic Islands Yacht Charter?

Given the longer cruising distances—Mallorca to Ibiza is 70 nautical miles—we always suggest a luxury motor yacht. At 14 knots, the passage takes about 5 hours, an easy overnight trip so you wake up in a completely new destination, ready to explore.

A Smart Pick for Luxury Yacht Charters

The Balearics are quickly becoming a top alternative to the South of France, offering high-end marinas, fewer crowds, and an expanding fleet of luxury motor yachts at more favorable conditions. With direct flights from the U.S. now available, reaching Mallorca has never been easier, making this Mediterranean gem more accessible than ever.

Day 1: Palma to Es Trenc Beach (20 NM)

We recommend you start your Balearic Island yacht charter in Palma, Mallorca’s yachting capital, and home to one of the finest marinas in Europe, Puerto Portals. Highlights include Palma’s old town, high-end boutiques, and Michelin-starred dining.

Setting out from Palma, we recommend heading straight to Es Trenc—a breathtaking white-sand beach dubbed the “Caribbean of Mallorca.”

“Es Trenc is one of my favorite anchorages. The sand is incredibly soft, and the water is that unreal turquoise you usually only see in the Caribbean.” – Sarah Klische, Senior Yacht Charter Broker

Es Trenc is a nature reserve, meaning no big hotels or overdeveloped areas—just pure turquoise waters and rolling dunes. Spend the day paddleboarding in the calm shallows or simply relaxing on deck. For fresh seafood, we recommend Ran de Mar, a local favorite for grilled fish and sangria.

Day 2: Es Trenc to Cabrera Island (10 NM)

Cabrera is a marine reserve you can only visit by boat, and it’s one of the best places for snorkeling in the Balearics. With strict visitor limits, the waters here are full of marine life, making it a top pick for spotting dolphins and sea turtles.

We highly recommend taking the tender into the Blue Cave (Cova Blava) in the late afternoon when the sunlight turns the water an unreal shade of electric blue. After anchoring overnight, an early morning hike to the Cabrera Castle offers panoramic views over the island.

Note: Cabrera National Park requires a special permit, which we always arrange in advance for our charter clients.

Day 3: Cabrera to Cala Xarraca, Ibiza (70 NM)

The 70 nautical mile crossing from Cabrera Island to Ibiza is where having a motor yacht pays off. With a cruising speed of 14 knots, the passage takes around 5 hours. (This can be done during the night so you can wake up already in Cala Xarraca).

“This is a longer leg in the open sea, so having speed and stability means you get there in comfort and without wasting your precious time; you need it for exploring the incredible places you are about to get to,” – Alex Hailwax, one of our brokers and ex yacht charter captain.

Cala Xarraca is a hidden gem on Ibiza’s quieter north coast. Known for its red cliffs and crystal-clear water, this bay is ideal for snorkeling or trying out the yacht’s water toys. If you want an off-the-beaten-path Ibiza dining experience, our personal favorite is the El Puerto in Portinatx, a small, family-run seafood restaurant with an unbeatable view.

Day 4: Cala Xarraca to San Antonio, Ibiza (12 NM)

On Ibiza’s sunset coast, San Antonio is home to legendary beach clubs like Café del Mar and Mambo. e can help you with reserving a VIP table at Café del Mar for sunset drinks—one of the most iconic experiences in Ibiza.

Before heading ashore, spend the day at Cala Bassa, a pristine anchorage with soft sand and a lively beach scene. It is one of our favorite spots for a beach picnic, as you can tender straight to the shore.

Day 5: San Antonio to Formentera (17 NM)

Formentera is the ultimate escape—white sand, impossibly blue water, and no high-rises in sight. The highlight is Playa de Ses Illetes– as close as you get to the Maldives in Europe.

For lunch, Sarah Klische always books our clients a table at Juan y Andrea, the legendary barefoot beach restaurant where grilled lobster and cold rosé flow all afternoon.

With protected anchorages and calm waters, this is the ideal place to unwind and enjoy a relaxed day in total luxury.
