Alcúdia Bay is one of the 2 great bays of Mallorca’s quieter north, and the one we recommend most for families: wide, open water backed by mountains, long sandy beaches, and far less boat traffic than Palma sees in July and August.
One thing we’re straight about: the Alcúdia hotel strip on land is busy package-holiday territory. From the water that barely registers. The bay is big enough that you anchor away from all of it, and the contrast is exactly why the north works so well by yacht.
Mooring and marina notes
The bay is broad, mostly gentle, and forgiving for guests who want calm water and easy swimming days. The marina sits beside the old town and takes visiting yachts; in season we book ahead, though the pressure here is nothing like the southwest. When the north wind builds, your captain will tuck under the Formentor side or shift around the corner, and that flexibility is the bay’s quiet advantage.
What’s around the port
Alcúdia’s walled medieval old town is a 10-minute walk from the marina and the best town stroll on this coast. The Formentor peninsula, with its lighthouse road and dramatic cliffs, closes the bay to the north and is the day trip we build every northern route around.
