Isla del Sech is an anchorage in Puerto de Palma Nova.

Puerto de Palma Nova is a charter location in Mallorca – South, a yacht charter area in Mallorca.

The anchorages on Puerto de Palma Nova:

Isla del Sech

Isla del Sech is a 10-meter small, rocky islet just opposite the Cala Bella Dona beach. It extends 500 meters into the sea and is usually preferred by professional divers and swimmers due to its magnificent underwater richness. The tourist submarine Nemo 1 that is chartered from Puerto Portals anchors here for divers.

There are three main types of dives: an exploration of the island’s walls down up to 20 meters, a visit to a shipwreck, exploration of another wreck that is 30 meters deep (the maximum depth). Although diving activities take place around the year, summers are preferred when the temperature plateaus around 22-26 degrees Celsius.

Isla del Sec, as it is also known, will be a great spot for fish watching. Around the walls underneath and near the shipwreck you will find shoals of a variety of Mediterranean fish such as moray eels, octopus, scorpionfish, and barracudas. Several diving teams regularly visit the islet.

Isla del Sech can be dangerous due to unreliable currents. We don’t recommend sailing solo into this small island.

Mooring at Isla del Sech

Sail east from Portals Vells or north from Puerto de Palmanova to reach the islet. It’s very low-lying, so you may not notice the island from afar. Unlit buoys may be spread during February to mark the diving area, but it’s part of the Nemo 1 expedition.

Anchoring here is not recommended.

Provisioning and Services

No provisions are available. It is best used as a hangout spot for divers and athletic swimmers who use a dinghy to get to the islet.
