Puerto Portals Overview
Puerto Portals is one of the most happening marinas in Mallorca, known for its expansive shopping market, upscale villas and resorts, nautical companies, and a large 650-berth parking space. If Palma is the prime hub of Mallorca, Puerto Portals is its luxurious cousin.
The iconic port has a hilly backdrop that houses small white apartments, commercial buildings, and villas. The shoreside is entirely commercial that resembles a big shopping complex with cafes, boutiques, and marine-related shops.
Thanks to its concentrated area and easy access, it is one of the most expensive ports in all of Mallorca. The berths are in high demand all year and need to be booked months before arrival. The berths can take large boats up to the size of 60 meters, further making it a favorable stop for superyachts and other large charters.
Although a fashion and shopping hub, Puerto Portals has its own heavy dose of nautical activities such as sailing competitions. It also attracts the who’s who of the international sailing world, who come together and participate in some of the most head-spinning and mind-numbing displays of motor racing in the sea.
Navigation and Anchoring
If you are entering from the west through Isla del Sech, you will see the orange cliffs of Portals Nous to the north-northeast. Head forward to catch the south breakwater and the square tower on the north pole of the marina. Be wary of the southeasterly gale.
From the east, round Cabo Blanco and head northwest course across Bahia de Palma. It is located just 10 kilometers from Palma de Mallorca.
The entrance is straightforward and you can anchor on your allotted berth in 5 meters over sand and weed. Avoid crowding at the entrance and take note of the buoys scattered off the beach. Head inside the south breakwater and prepare for mooring alongside the reception quay. Do note that the speed limit within the harbor is 3kn.
There are a total of 650 berths in the port that can accommodate boats of size ranging from 8-60 meters. As noted above, it will be wise to book a berth before arriving. Summers are usually packed.
History of Puerto Portals
Puerto Portals was opened in 1986 as a plush tourist marina with a huge capacity and friendly, shallow waters.
Places of Interest In and Around Puerto Portals
Unlike Palma de Mallorca and Port Calanova, there aren’t many sights to see in this port. Instead, you can engage in sporting activities or be a spectator to some of the most thrilling sailing competitions in the world. The Club de Regatas Puerto Portals (CRPP) hosts some of the biggest sailing and motor racing events on the marina.
Shopping and exploring the local markets are other popular fads. If you are on a family vacation, there are a lot of small local events, activities, and contests that you can participate in.

If you walk in from the shore, you will find over a dozen restaurants, cafes, and ice cream parlors that offer both exotic and local food. Do note that Puerto Portals is generally more expensive than other parts of Mallorca, so you may find the items here costlier than usual.
