Punta Negra

Punta Negra is a small peninsula just west of Puerto Portals. Known for its quiet atmosphere that is away from the main harbors of Puerto Portals and Palma, it is frequented by day trippers. You can escape to this anchorage from Palma Nova or Portals and anchor on either side of the headland.

There are no facilities on the shore but you can find the H10 Resort that offers accommodation. You can enjoy stunning views of the coast and the ocean at large from here but expect accommodation prices to be steep.

Mooring at Punta Negra

Punta Negra is located midway between Palma Nova and Puerto Portals. It’s easier to spot from either side. As you approach, note the expansive low-rise hotel on the west side.

Anchoring suggestion is about 5 meters over sand and weed. You may choose to anchor on the east or west side depending upon the view that you like. We recommend the west side (Cala Punta Negra) as it is slightly prettier.

The Punta Negra beach has turquoise water and is bereft of rocks. Occasional gale at nighttime is expected but nothing worth being cautious about.

Provisioning and Services

You will find essential provisioning at Punta Negra’s small supermarkets, bars, and restaurants. But none of them are available ashore; you will need to anchor and walk in. There’s a low-rise hotel adjacent to the shore, along with buildings that are concealed by the trees.

If you walk in, you will find the Mercadona supermarket on the northside. Here you can fill up your resources and other essentials if you don’t plan to stay at the resort on the cliff. There are more stay options once you enter the anchorage but do expect high prices.

You can park anywhere on either side of the peninsula. Hiking, swimming, and snorkeling in the nearby areas are permitted but there is no administrative presence or equipment rentals.

Tourist activity is minimal here.
